Hivewings are Hybrids? THEORY! (MINOR SPOILERS)

I just finished reading the new book (at 3 AM after staying up to read it on Amazon as soon as it came out, like normal people) and I found new evidence for a theory that has been sitting in the back of my head.

The theory, of course, is that Hivewings are just Nightwing/Silkwing Hybrids.

It may seem like an outrageous claim, but there is some evidence that strongly points in this direction.

The first and most obvious point is that Clearsight had eggs with a Silkwing. This, on its own, proves nothing, but it gives us a good confirmation for lots of the other evidence.

The second piece of evidence I found was a small thing mentioned by Cricket. Hivewings "used to have antennae." Silkwings have Antennae (and are the only tribe that do), obviously, but perhaps this was the Nightwing genes and evolution itself changing things around.

The third piece of evidence I thought of when Blue thought of what the Hivewings were like before Clearsight came. If all Hivewings are descended from Clearsight, how did the "original Hivewings" so thoroughlydisappear without a trace? Not one of the stronger points on the list, but a point nontheless.

Most of the other evidence is how Tui words certain things, but the last point is a quote from Clearsight herself.

And now, the quotes from the book:

“Her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren were protected from every danger, growing strong and more numerous as the years went on.”

This would explain how the Hivewings rose to power, eventually becoming an established tribe. They were protected by Clearsight.

“Clearsight wrote it all down, centuries of warning, so she would continue to protect her beloved Hivewing children, even after her death.”

"Her beloved HIVEWING children" not her beloved "hybrid children," even though they equate to the same thing. This is Blue's POV but... This is mostly more proof for the first quote.

“I leave you this in the hope that it will make life better for both our tribes”

Arguably one of the strongest points of evidence. She left the book specifically to ONE tribe. Both of the tribes mentioned are the Nightwings and Hivewings, obviously. She left the book to her Grandchildren, who she refers to as a "tribe" despite all of them being hybrids. UNLESS she saw them all becoming the one and only Hivewing tribe!

I hope this idea is confirmed in later books, as it would be a GREAT reveal.

Valiant the Wolf Pup wrote:
Can we stop?!?! This is outrageous

'Outrageous' is a rather harsh term. This thread is for discussing theories concerning Hivewing origins - there's going to be disagreements and differing opinions, simply by the nature of the discussion here. The only thing that could possibly be described as 'outrageous' was the off-topic argument about Creationvs Evolution, and that was dropped about two weeks ago now; everything else has been more or less on-topic. Since we haven't received and official confirmation/denial from the books or the author yet, there's no real reason to drop the discussion or close the thread just yet.

I’m pretty sure this is an old conversation, because who ever is writing this, must not have read The Hive Queen, because Lady Scarab confirms that Hivewings are just Silk/Night hybrids. Clearsight married two SilkWings, and had a lotta kids with each husband, and then they kept marrying SilkWings, and then there where enough to be a tribe. It wasScarab’s great great grandmother who declared no more more mixingHive and Silk blood. So every Hivewing is distantly related, but still distantly enough to legally marry. Kinda complicated, and family trees aren’t my thing, but I’m pretth sure they could legally marry.

SilkWings are what the BeetleWings that did not have relation to Clearsite became.

Very good theory, nice evidence and explanation, and I do agree that the first HiveWings were hybrids, but since then they reproduced within their own species for so long that they became a completely different tribe. BeetleWings are the common ancestor of both HiveWings and SilkWings. See, they were both the same tribe, but neither the ones they are now. They both were originally BeetleWings, which were bred to extinction after the arrival of Clearsight.

Adding on: When I said "BeetleWings have some abilities like the toxin that can be found in various stingers (if hatched with). SilkWing's have no such abilities, but inherited the antenie (just making up the spelling), Metamorphisis, and wing type."

I wanted to add that while the SilkWings didn't get natural weapons, HiveWings did. That is the main evidence that corrosponds to HiveWings being desendants to such a different tribe.
