Meet the Snapdragon X Elite Starting Lineup From Acer, Dell, HP, and Lenovo (2024)

Qualcomm is pushing its Snapdragon X Elite as a game-changing processor that will rival chips from Apple, AMD, and Intel, raising the bar on laptop performance while offering long-lasting battery life. We'll soon be able to put that to the test with a wave of new Windows laptops from Acer, Dell, HP, and Lenovo, some of which will pair the X Elite chips with existing laptops. Here, we break down the models on the horizon, including their pricing, launch dates, and specs.

Acer: Swift 14 AI

Case in point: Acer is bringing Qualcomm's processors to the Swift 14 laptops. The result is the Swift 14 AI, which includes dedicated AI-based processing and is designed to be one of the most power-efficient Windows 11 notebooks on the market.

The Swift 14 AI (also known as the SF14-11) features a 14.5-inch IPS display with a 2,560-by-1,600 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It has an aluminum casing and weighs 3.7 pounds. There will be an option to buy the laptop with either an X Elite X1E-78-100 processor, which includes 12 cores, or the X Plus X1P-64-100 chip, which has 10 cores.

Other perks include a 180-degree hinge, Wi-Fi 7 support, a 1440p infrared web camera, and a triple microphone array to help facilitate clear video calls. The Swift 14 AI looks awfully similar to its Intel-based counterparts, including the Swift X 14, but it could be cheaper depending on the configuration. It launches in July in North America starting at $1,099.

Dell: XPS, Inspiron, and Latitude

Dell is trying to stand out by putting X Elite chips in the XPS 13 laptop, which features its "zero-lattice keyboard" with edge-to-edge keys. In addition, there's a row of LED power buttons below the screen, producing a look similar to the XPS 13 Plus. But the X Elite version is even lighter, weighing only 2.59 pounds and measuring 0.58 inches thick.

The aluminum casing and Corning's Gorilla Glass 3 deliver what Dell says is a "strong, lightweight laptop." It has a 13.4-inch screen and different screen-quality options, including an OLED touch-screen version. Buyers can configure it with the X1 Elite X1E-80-100 processor or the X Plus X1P-64-100 chip. On the downside,the XPS 13 Elite X is pricier, starting at $1,299. The company will kick off preorders for the XPS 13 on May 20.

For those who need a slightly more affordable PC, Dell is packing the X Elite chips inside the Inspiron 14 Plus, which looks similar to the Intel-based version. It starts at $1,099, but the spec sheet only mentions the less powerful Snapdragon X1 Plus X1P-64-100 chip.

The company is also preparing three other X Elite laptop models—the Inspiron 14, Latitude 5455, and Latitude 7455. But for now, Dell says these products are slated to arrive sometime later this year. Pricing will be announced closer to the launch date.

HP: Omni and Elite

HP is preparing two laptops with Qualcomm's processors—the OmniBook X AI PC and the EliteBook Ultra G1q AI PC, both of which were developed to take advantage of the X Elite chips.

The consumer-focused OmniBook X will run the Elite X1E-78-100 chip. It features a 14-inch screen in an aluminum package that weighs only 2.97 pounds and is 0.57 inches thick.

Thanks to the Qualcomm chip, HP says the laptop can run up to 22 hours while streaming video or web browsing. Other features include Wi-Fi 7 support, a 5-megapixel front-facing infrared web camera, and dual speakers.The OmniBook X starts at $1,199 and begins shipping on June 18. EliteBook Ultra G1q AI PC (Credit: HP)

Meanwhile, the 14-inch, business-focused EliteBook Ultra is similar in design and specs to the OmniBook X, but it's more expensive, starting at $1,699.99. The EliteBook Ultra is also slated to ship on June 18. Preorders for both products start today.

Lenovo: Yoga and ThinkPad

Lenovo will also pack X Elite chips in two products: the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x and the ThinkPad T14s Gen 6.

The Slim 7x launches in June starting at $1,199. Lenovo is marketing it to creators who need a thin and light 14.5-inch laptop with a fast processor. "Starting at just 2.82lbs (1.28kg) and as thin as 0.50 (12.9mm), the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x is as portable as it is powerful," the company says.

The ThinkPad 14s Gen 6 will also arrive in June but at a higher starting price of $1,699. It’s designed for business users and carries all the well-known design fixtures found in earlier ThinkPad 14s models. The laptop comes with a 14-inch display, weighs even less at 2.72 pounds, and features support for up to 64GB LPDDR5x RAM.

“Users can stay connected with Wi-Fi 7 and optional 5G sub 6 capabilities, ensuring constant connectivity wherever they go, and can benefit from a 58Wh battery to enjoy multi-day battery life using the more energy-efficient low-power display panel,” Lenovo added.
