iTWire - The Soundcore Space One headphones bring the goods but at a low price (2024)

Soundcore is the audio arm of Anker Technologies, one of the largest Chinese peripherals and accessories companies by revenue, and it is easy to see why. The brand produces a wide range of useful and innovative devices in general, and its Soundcore arm in particular is well-known for affordable yet quality audio hardware.

The Soundcore Space One headphones are a recent release boasting a long battery life, hi-res audio, and powerful noise reduction. It's also a truly aesthetic and beautiful set of headphones that come in sky blue, latte cream, or jet black. They are comfortable to wear and have a floating-axis design to help you position them in the best way for your head.

Further, the Soundcore Space One builds on Soundcore's previous headsets, such as the Space Q45, Q30, and Q35, with the addition of an extra microphone giving it a total of three. These three microphones are used for calls and are bolstered with AI smarts, to ensure the mics pick up your voice clearly and crisply and eliminate background noise.

This aids your calls and team meetings, eliminating the old "can you hear me?" that plagues many such a meeting, and makes collaboration more efficient and productive.

But, of course, it's not all about your listener's comfort; you want headphones that bring you pleasure and joy. Soundcore's audio engineers have delivered in spades.

The headphones contain upgraded noise cancelling structures, with 40mm customised dynamic drivers, and deliver hi-res LDAC audio with three times more detailed sound than standard Bluetooth.

For clarity, LDAC is a certified Sony codec that transmits audio content at the maximum bitrate of 990kbps. What this means, in a nutshell, is you receive wireless audio at 96kHz/24 bit at 4.5Mbps, vs. ordinary Bluetooth transmission at 328kbps, resulting in wireless audio at 44.1kHz/16 bit, which is lower than CD-grade quality.

The good news is the Soundcore Space One fully supports LDAC, and you can enable it via the Soundcore app. It's non-compromising and is fully licensed from Sony. The bad news is its only available for Android.

At this time, the iPhone does not support LDAC, and some say it is unlikely to do so. Ironically, the Apple Music app on Android will stream lossless music over LDAC.

Thus, if you are an Android user, you'll get incredible music reproduction and audio fidelity with these headphones.

Of course, they're still great sounding if you can't use LDAC (or turn it off). Other built-in features include dynamic drivers, adaptive ANC to tune the world out and let you immerse yourself in your music, and adjustable transparency so you can tune some of the world back in (while walking in traffic, for instance). iTWire found the ANC works well, effortlessly detecting external sounds and sound leakage, and automatically adjusting to reduce the outside noises, even when we hadn't formed a tight seal around our ears.

The battery life ranges from 40 hours with ANC on, to 55 hours with ANC off. A long battery life is no use if the headphones aren't comfortable, but happily, the Soundcore Space One is ergonomic, soft, lightweight, and easy to wear over an entire day.

The box includes the Soundcore Space One headphones, a USB-C cable, an AUX cable, and a travel pouch to help you take them along with you on your journeys.

The Soundcore Space One is a feature-packed set of headphones that look good, sound great, and can go anywhere with you. At a retail price of $169.99 (but currently $129.99 from Soundcore's website) they're punching above their weight. Yes, you could get greater comfort, more microphones, and stronger ANC, but you're typically looking at upwards of $350+ to even $600+ or more for headphones in the high-end like Bose, Sony, or Bang & Olufsen.

The Soundcore Space One lets you turn down the world, turn up your music, and simply immerse yourself in a rich soundstage of crisp and comfortable lows, mids, and highs. Life is better with a soundtrack, and Soundcore allows you to bring yours to life.
