What’s on the Paleo brunch plate of your dreams? Is that an odd question? Perhaps not if you’re a regular reader, perhaps yes if you stumbled across this blog looking for, um, something that doesn’t involve brunch recipes at all. Or paleo. Then again, that in itself would be strange.
So back to my question – what’s on your perfect brunch plate? I know what mine looks like, but I just had to ask Adam for the sake of variety and curiosity. According to him, it’s french toast with a sunny side up egg. But really? That’s it?
Good start with the egg, I guess, but mine also includes at least 2 types of quiche (and one NEEDS to have bacon!) along with a muffin and some other type of “dessert”, sweet potato hash browns (with more bacon) and some sort of salad and fruit for balance. It’s brunch, remember, so we’re combining 2 meals into one, which equals WILD THING ON A PLATE. Or something. All I know is that my plate(s) will be filled, and then filled again.
All of these brunch recipes are 1.) delicious and 2.) paleo. By paleo I’m talking gluten free, grain free, dairy free, refined sugar free and legume free. And by delicious, I mean YUM! EXTRA YUM! My YUM vocab might be lacking, but, seriously guys, there are CINNAMON RAISIN BAGELS in this roundup among other rock-yo-world brunch treats. Are you ready to die, in a good way! Yeah! Me too. Let’s eat!!
More than a little into running and paleo recipes (yoga now too!) but I'm not here to rain on your grains (or anything else) so come along for the ride! I do a little too much of everything (except cleaning), and I enjoy laughing at myself. As long as I'm the one making the jokes, that is. Just kidding. So bring me your angst, your appetite and your frying pan and climb aboard!
Ooh can I come have brunch with you? I’m really eyeing that cake.

I tried to click on the breakfast bread recipe. However, the link takes you to the sweet potato waffle recipe. Is there a way to get the breakfast bread recipe?

The paleo diet focuses on unprocessed foods and avoids dairy products. That means your paleo breakfasts can be high in fiber, with seeds, nuts, and fresh fruits. They can also give you a morning dose of protein via meat and eggs.
Bagel – in New York City, the "bagel brunch" was popular circa 1900. The bagel brunch consists of a bagel topped with lox, cream cheese, capers, tomato and red onion.
French toast, waffles, pancakes, and similar dishes are great choices for brunch. You could also do something even more impressive like apple pecan or ultimate berry bread pudding. Add some parfaits for a lighter option that pairs well with these dishes.
Over time, people following the diet could see increases in cholesterol, particularly the less healthy cholesterol. This could increase the risk of heart disease. Not getting enough calcium increases the risk of osteoporosis, rickets, and bone fractures.
Why are Oats not Paleo-friendly? Although oats are a non-fattening healthy food for a more mainstream diet, oats do contain anti-nutrients that the Paleo diet aims to avoid such as phytic acid, lectins, and avenin. Not only do oats contain a few anti-nutrients, but they are also often contaminated with gluten.
Peanuts are technically legumes, which are not paleo compliant, and that means peanut butter is off limits for paleo eaters. All other nuts and seeds are fair game, so if nuts and seeds are the only ingredients, snack away!
Brunch boards differ from traditional charcuterie boards because we chose to use sweeter jams on these boards, instead of our traditional homemade spicy jams. Some great options for brunch boards include jams like cherry, strawberry, peach, or any other fruit jams. Another great add on is honey.
Fresh fruit. Pastries and baked goods – croissants, cinnamon buns, donuts, muffins. Hot items such as mini quiches, scones, and biscuits. Traditional breakfast foods – eggs, toast, baked beans, bagels, and spreads such as jam and mascarpone.
Choose one savory entree (like a breakfast casserole), something sweet (such as muffins, or malted waffles made earlier and kept warm in a low oven), some fruit, and then a bread or pastry, like buttermilk blueberry muffins (made the night before!).
Stick with lean proteins like scrambled eggs, egg whites, Canadian bacon, and turkey sausage or bacon. Look for high-fiber options like cereal and oatmeal, and if ordering a dish with an English muffin, opt for whole wheat. Order fat-free cottage cheese and yogurt, with fruit on top or served on the size.
That's fine (there are even benefits from doing so). Eating "brunch" is ok, if: – it's a healthy, nutritious meal; – it has plenty of "good" calories to get you through the day until suppertime – It's best not to make a habit of eating at brunch-time (Fabulous suggest eating no more than an hour after waking up).
Brunch is an opportunity to create a spread of meal options for guests to pick and choose from as they please. A brunch menu should provide a well-balanced array of foods from all of the 5 food groups: dairy, fruit, grain, meats and poultry, and vegetables and beans.
